Dún Laoghaire Centre was filled with music and energy on Saturday, 22nd August 2026, as the Ukulele Hooley Flashmob arrived in the heart of the town at 2pm.

The flashmob formed part of the 15th Ukulele Hooley, Ireland’s International Ukulele Festival, which returned to Dún Laoghaire for a weekend of live music, workshops, performances and community events.

Led by Patricia Prenty of Skerries Ukulele Strummers, participants gathered earlier in the day for a rehearsal before making their way to the flashmob location for the 2pm performance.

The surprise performance brought ukulele players together in a lively celebration of music and community, creating a fantastic atmosphere for visitors, shoppers and businesses throughout Dún Laoghaire Centre.

Events such as the Ukulele Hooley are a wonderful example of the vibrant cultural life of Dún Laoghaire and the strong sense of community that makes the town such a special place to visit.

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and helped bring a little extra music to Dún Laoghaire!
